History

In 2015, Jeremy and Jennifer Golden produced Fiddler on the Roof, at the Crown Valley Park Amphitheatre, as Laguna Niguel Theatre Company.  Their goal was to produce professional-quality, affordable dramatic art by, with and for the community.

In 2018, the company was re-birthed as the Renaissance Theatre Company (RTC) in order to highlight their focus on CLASSIC works and to represent ALL of South Orange County.  While “Classic Theatre” includes Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde, their vision also includes more contemporary classic plays and musicals that focus on the universal human experience (Fiddler on the Roof, Wizard of Oz, Our Town, Christmas Carol, Guys & Dolls). CLASSIC works may also reimagine classic literature (Grimm’s Fairy Tales retold in Sondheim’s Into the Woods).

As of summer 2025,  Renaissance Theatre Company has been incorporated as a non-profit community theatre for 10 years. Over this decade, RTC has performed in 5 different venues in 3 different cities. They have exhausted their temporary spaces and it is TIME for RTC to find their permanent home in South Orange County.

RTC brings culture and arts to the community.  RTC also makes South Orange County a destination for patrons from surrounding cities.  This translates into revenue for area restaurants and other retail outlets, making the entire experience a truly community endeavor.

As of  August 2025, RTC is WITHOUT A PERFORMANCE SPACE. In order for RTC to continue producing classic live theatre in South Orange County, we need a PERMANENT SPACE.  If you have ideas to support that goal, please contact us at info@RenTheatreCo.org.
